Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental
Protection, State Environmental Conservation Police awarded National Accreditation

BOATLogoFinal.jpgMarch 21, 2018 -- The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CT DEEP), State Environmental Conservation Police is being recognized as an accredited agency by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators Boat Operations and Training (BOAT) Program. The BOAT Program’s mission is to ensure the readiness of law enforcement and emergency response boat crews throughout the country. Agencies who choose to adopt this national standard of training, typing and credentialing assure their ability to conduct missions on our nation’s waterways safely and effectively, and operate seamlessly with their federal, state, county, tribal and local maritime partners.

“We were very impressed with the program the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, State Environmental Conservation Police currently has in place,” says Dave Considine, NASBLA BOAT Program Director. “CT DEEP, State Environmental Conservation Police should be commended for their efforts in completing the accreditation.  It is clear the agency is dedicated to their goal of training all of Connecticut’s officers to the absolute highest standard. We are very pleased to recognize the CT DEEP, Connecticut Environmental Conservation Police with this accreditation. We thank them for all their hard work.”

Accreditation of an agency ensures that its training curricula, policies, qualification processes and documentation for crew members, boat operators for search and rescue, and tactical operators meet the BOAT Program’s National Standards, and allow an agency to train and qualify all of its officers internally, as well as its partners on the water. The CT DEEP, State Environmental Conservation Police were found to be in perfect compliance with the National Standards outlined in the NASBLA BOAT Program Manual and endorsed by the United States Coast Guard.

The CT DEEP, State Environmental Conservation Police’s mission is to provide natural resource protection and public safety through education, outreach and enforcement.

The CT DEEP, State Environmental Conservation Police will be formally recognized at the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) annual conference this September in Indianapolis, Indiana.
