Appointments announced for National Boating Safety Advisory Council 
 
NASBLA would like to congratulate the following Boating Law Administrators (BLAs) on being selected to serve on the National Boating Safety Advisory Council. 
 
This following list of BLAs appointed/reappointed, fill the terms that expired in 2016 and 2017.

  • Dave Dahms - Idaho - Term expiring 12/31/2019
  • Tim Dunleavy - New Hampshire - Term expiring 12/31/2019
  • Mark Brown - Oklahoma - Term expiring 12/31/2020
  • Cody Jones - Texas - Term expiring 12/31/2020
  • Gary Klein - Florida - Term expiring 12/31/2020

In addition to this list of BLAs, NASBLA's CEO & Executive Director, John Johnson has also been selected to serve as a National Recreational Boating Organizations representative. NASBLA is pleased to have a great representation of NASBLA, NASBLA's Executive Board, the Boating Law Administrators serving on this Council. 

The National Boating Safety Advisory Council (NBSAC) was established by the Federal Boat Safety Act of 1971. The law requires the Secretary of Homeland Security, and the Commandant of the Coast Guard by delegation, to consult with the Council in prescribing Federal regulations, and regarding other major boating safety matters. The Council has consistently provided invaluable advice to the Coast Guard on a broad range of boating safety matters.

Reminder - Applications are still being accepted through May 21 for NBSAC appointments to be made in 2019. Inquires can be made to NBSAC@uscg.mil.
