Sea Tow Automated Radio Check Service
Spring is here, and it is time to get ready to get out on the water. While checking off your spring conditioning checklist, don’t forget to check the VHF radio to make sure that it is working. Sea Tow has a free and easy way to do just that.
The Sea Tow Automated Radio Check (ARC) Service provides boaters with a reliable, 
fast and easy way to check the working status of their VHF radios without having to use Channel 16, thereby reserving that frequency for emergency calls. Referred to as ARC, the service was launched in 2011 and currently has over 115 ARC Stations nationwide with more being added weekly.
Conducting a radio check with this service takes 3 simple steps:
- Tune the VHF radio to the proper channel for your community.
- Key the mic, speak clearly and then release the mic.
- Stand by. The ARC system will play a standard controlled message and then will replay your original transmission indicating clarity and the working level of your VHF radio. This is then followed by a quick public service announcement.
Sea Tow has partnered with the U.S. Power Squadrons to host a number of ARC stations around the country. There is minimal cost involved in hosting a station with most of the cost going to internet and electrical connections, which are minimal.
