NASBLA BOAT Program Receives Letter of Appreciation

The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) Boat Virginia - Tactical Operators CourseOperations and Training (BOAT) Program delivered a five-day Tactical Operators Course in Hampton, Virginia, hosted by the Virginia Port Authority, from July 27 - 31, 2020. This course is designed to enhance the capabilities of students with the knowledge and skills necessary to appropriately react to threats in the maritime community.

Upon completion of the Tactical Operators Course, Dave Considine, NASBLA BOAT Program Director, received an email of appreciation from one of the students. The email reads as follows:

Good morning. I wanted to let you both know that I had the privilege of taking the Tactical Boat Training Class that NASBLA offered to our agency here in Hampton, Virginia. I am an officer with the Virginia Marine Police. There were three representatives from NASBLA and two from the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries that were the instructors. I would like to express my gratitude for the professionalism, knowledge and instructing skills that all five men showed us this week of training. I came into this class with experience in driving a boat but apprehensive about the tactical maneuvers that we were to be learning. Santi, Bart, Glenn, Travis and Josh all had a way that made us feel comfortable and took away my apprehension and replaced it with confidence. I am 100% confident that I can perform tactical duties while on patrol without hesitation and it is owed to this training. There are few training classes that I would want to last longer than expected but this is one of them. Absolutely hands down the best training I have received and it is all due to the training style of the instructors. Thank you for a great week of training.

Very Respectfully,
Marine Police Officer

The success of the NASBLA BOAT Program stems directly from the knowledge, skills and experience of the instructor cadre. Since 2009, the BOAT Program's team of over 170 credentialed instructors have delivered this important training to over 10,000 maritime officers. NASBLA is confident that training to the National Standard has saved lives, and better enabled the men and women who patrol our waterways to do their job safely and effectively.
