2021 NASBLA Annual Report Released

The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA), a national nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization that works to develop public policy for recreational boating safety, has released its 2021 Annual Report. The report covers a variety of accomplishments achieved by NASBLA and its members, stemming from NASBLA policy committees, grant projects, annual events, national awards and more. NASBLA represents the recreational boating authorities of all 50 states and the U.S. territories.

“Despite the challenges of the previous year, NASBLA has enjoyed an incredibly productive committee and project year with numerous long-term charges and project results coming to fruition,” said NASBLA Chief Executive Officer John Johnson. “On behalf of the Executive Board and staff, I am pleased to present the 2021 NASBLA Annual Report.”

As the COVID-19 pandemic extended into 2021, NASBLA had to overcome a variety of challenges. Throughout the year, NASBLA hosted both virtual and in-person events, rescheduled Boat Operations and Training (BOAT) Program courses that were originally postponed, and strived to have an effective committee year all while conducting work virtually. In spite of these difficulties, NASBLA continued to provide professional development, training and insights to its members throughout the year.

Some of the top achievements highlighted in this report include hosting the first-ever virtual State RBS Workshop, welcoming the States Organization for Boating Access (SOBA) as the newest member of our association’s list of affiliated organizations, launching the new Inland Boat Operator & Marine Fundamentals Course, holding the 10th NASBLA Leadership Academy at the association’s new office headquarters, and completing and formalizing the adoption of the new “Core-Plus” national boater education standards.

The Annual Report features an overview of the association’s key programs, campaigns and capabilities and how these reflect the association’s strategic goals. There are summaries of ongoing efforts such as Operation Dry Water (ODW), the BOAT Program, the National Education Standards Panel and much more.
