North Carolina names new Boating Law Administrator

The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) is pleased to welcome Major Mark Dutton, the new Boating Law Administrator (BLA) for the state of North Carolina.
 
Major Mark L. Dutton graduated from Appalachian State University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He began working for the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) in 1997, and was promoted to Sergeant in 2005. In 2006, Maj. Dutton was named the North Carolina Boating Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. As Maj. Dutton continued his career with the Commission, he was later promoted to Lieutenant and Training Director in 2018. In December, 2022, Dutton advanced to the rank of Major of Support Services and took over as the BLA of North Carolina. 

Maj. Dutton has been an active NCWRC boating instructor since 2006, spending seven of these years as a Lead Boating Instructor. In addition to his training within the agency, Maj. Dutton is a NASBLA Boat Crew Member (BCM) Instructor. 

Maj. Dutton currently resides in Foxfire, North Carolina, with his wife of 25 years, Maggie, and their two sons, Colin (19) and Liam (15).
