The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) is excited to welcome Lieutenant Colonel Matt Majors, the new Boating Law Administrator (BLA) for the state of Tennessee.

Lt. Col. Majors is well-acquainted with both the U.S. Coast Guard and NASBLA, having deeply engaged with both organizations. His extensive involvement has provided him with significant knowledge and experience with these organizations.

Since 2002, Lt. Col. Majors has served with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA). Over his 22-year tenure, he has held various roles, including wildlife officer, boating officer, lead wildlife officer, statewide boating investigator, and most recently, Lt. Colonel of the Boating & Law Enforcement Division.

In addition to his role with TWRA, Lt. Col. Majors serves as NASBLA’s National Boating Incident Investigation Program Manager, where he trains officers across the United States and internationally. He is also a national Boating Under the Influence (BUI) Detection and Apprehension Instructor, as well as a GPS Forensics Instructor. His dedication to advancing boating safety is evident through his global efforts to train conservation officers and marine police officers in the latest techniques in boating crash investigation and BUI detection.

Lt. Col. Majors has received numerous accolades, including MADD’s 2023 Director’s Choice Award, NASBLA’s Garner Leadership Award in 2021, and the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Outstanding Service Award in 2017. These honors underscore his commitment to boating safety.

Furthermore, Lt. Col. Majors is a past chair of NASBLA’s Enforcement and Training Committee, a current member of NASBLA’s Engineering, Reporting & Analysis Committee (ERAC), and serves on NASBLA’s Boating Advisory Panel. He also holds a position on the American Boat and Yacht Council’s Board of Directors.
