Summer Boat Safety Job (as crew or other)

  • 1.  Summer Boat Safety Job (as crew or other)

    Posted 04-17-2020 07:31 PM

I hope everyone is safe in the health climate.
Does anyone here have summer/seasonal on-the-water boat jobs? Or any small-boat vacancy in general?
As crew on safety or patrol boats, or anything similar?
FYI: I'm aware of all the standard publicly-searchable websites, so i'm more precisely asking for direct help, e.g., specific leads and vacancies someone in the forum may have. Willing to relocate anywhere. I've been trying to find a career-path for a long time, and have given a lot in the process, so at this point I need direct assistance and mentorship from professionals who have succeeded so that I may do so as well in order to serve the community.
    Thank you, and safe waters.

Robert, I might suggest you seek out the local towing companies in your area.  Such as TowBoatU.S. or SeaTow.  Often using summer hires for crew and some may need a trainer for their Safety Management.

Terry, thanks for that. Unfortunately, year after year each time I've reachout out to either, they don't have openings. But, is there anyone here from those companies that have openings?

In general, it seems unnecessarily challenging to find a career-path and job on small-boats in general. In one of the busiest ports in the world I've lived in, I can count the options on one hand.

I'm aware of standard options like those companies. So I'm hoping that asking this forum will yield opportunities in the community that will be successful...since it's a community/discipline we're all passion about.

Please message me if you have an option.

Terry, I'm flexible on location, willing to relocate anywhere. But at the moment on eastcoast.

It'd be great if anyone in the forum has specific vacancies, leads, or networking and mentorship options. Again, I'm aware of the usual publicly-findable orgs. to generally apply to--so at this point I need direct leads. I'd appreciate any help and networking to afford me to opportunity to succeed as others have. Does anyone have specific roles or vacancies?

I'd suggest you check the Federal jobs web site periodically starting next month for part-time and seasonal jobs with the U.S. National Park Service for seasonal rangers. (I'm not sure about the training or if any current POST certifications are required when you apply). Though I'm sure you'd have to receive some type of training - likely at the Federal law enforcement training facility in Georgia prior to being assigned a position in a park. The Park Service typically adds seasonal staff across the country as rangers on the water. Its a good gig and may lead to a permanent LE position with the Park Service.

Another option would be to check with the law enforcement staff at your local waterway and ask them about suggestions. They may know of something going on locally.

    Good luck with your search.

Thank you for your message, Ed. I'm aware of the standard searchable-options anyone can find online, and i've periodically checked. I'd like to know if anyone here has specific vacancies, or can help with networking, since this is a community forum. It'd be great if other like-minded safety-focused persons can help reach that goal. Please let me know in a personal message if anyone has options, or would like a resume and phone call.

    Hi Robert,
I am not sure where you are located, but I can put you in touch with a Sea Tow captain in your local area. Feel free to email me or call me.
