The NASBLA BOAT Program's Officer Water Survival (OWS) training program needs to replace the body armor and carriers for use in its OWS courses. Our current armor and carriers have reached the end of their useable life. Any donations of used body armor that is no longer serviceable are appreciated!

Please contact me with any questions.

    Thanks.

    Good morning all,

the response for used body armor has been amazing, and we have quickly been able to get the needed vests and carriers to replace our current supply.  Thanks to all who offered up vests!

Discussions with these agencies did bring up another question.  What are agencies doing to dispose of outdated body armor?  If any agency has a good solution please let us know.

    Good morning Dave,

In AZ, we normally hold onto old body armor for training purposes such as showing our new game wardens the effects of shooting at them and we use them for our water survival course.

I looked into this a while back.  There was a company that would take the old vests and recycle them into hockey equipment and other stuff.  The only draw back was we would have had to pay to ship the vests to them.  We end up letting our officer keep their old vest for emergencies with the understanding that they were expired, could no longer be worn on patrol, and should only be used as a last resort.
