  • 1.  RBS Policy

    Hello!

I am Cpl. Ivan Perez, State Marine Specialist for Michigan D.N.R. Law Division. I have been tasked with coming up with policy regarding our RBS program throughout the state. This policy will mainly focus on the who, what, when, where, why, and how's our volunteers are to provide instruction. Our hunter safety policy is quite vigorous in this fashion and closely adheres to national standards.  The policy would be something available to instructors that they could cross reference if they had a question regarding background investigations, class size, minimum age requirements (if any), expenditures...etc.  It would also help in facilitating an investigation into possible violations. The way this differs from hunter safety, in my opinion, is that a large percentage our Marine Instructor corps is made up Law Enforcement, C.G. AUX. and Power Squadron personnel, so its not as simple as a cut and paste from Hunter Safety Policy to a new Marine Policy.  If you do have something in place, I would appreciate a chance to reach out personally to discus this matter further. Stay Safe and Stay Dry!
