Is anyone holding, or aware of a location that is sponsoring, an Officer Water Survival Train the Trainer class? I have been attempting to locate a course in the Ohio area for some time now, with no success. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Good morning Matthew,

The majority of the OWS classes that NASBLA runs are Direct Delivery courses paid by a grant or individual agency.  The agency purchasing the course normally fills all the seats or offers and remaining open seats to their neighboring partner agencies.  We don't hear about open seats until shortly before a course commences.  This is why we don't <g class="gr_ gr_649 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="649" data-gr-id="649">post course</g> schedules.

    We have been offering <g class="gr_ gr_682 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="682" data-gr-id="682">tuition based</g> courses for OWS, like we just did in September in Minnesota.  We did not fill that <g class="gr_ gr_983 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-del replaceWithoutSep" id="983" data-gr-id="983">class,</g> and had some cancellations at the last minute which jeopardize any future <g class="gr_ gr_825 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="825" data-gr-id="825">tuition based</g> OWS courses.

    Since OWS is one of our Train-the-Trainer courses, <g class="gr_ gr_1025 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling multiReplace" id="1025" data-gr-id="1025">their</g> are instructors and agencies that run the course throughout the country <g class="gr_ gr_1058 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="1058" data-gr-id="1058">internall</g>.  The best bet is to let the BLA in your state know that you are interested. BLA's are notified of open seats and <g class="gr_ gr_1504 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="1504" data-gr-id="1504">tuition based</g> classes.

The OWS Program Manager is Eric Reed, from OHIO DNR.  They run OWS Classes internally as well and are one of our accredited agencies.  We'll let you know if we hear of an OWS class in your area.

    Be safe!
