Hello,
I am the BLA in Kansas and work for Kansas Wildlife, Parks and Tourism. We are responsible for the lake and reservoirs in our state.
We utilize the 20 and 21 foot Boston Whalers on our larger waters and they work terrific. For our smaller water we have been using the Sea-Ark in various models. For the shallower streams we use the tunnel hull design. For the deeper water we use the modified tunnel hull, which gives a little better speed. We also have purchased the 20 foot Sea Ark set up and equipped with a hard T-top, center console and rated for a 150 h.p. motor. We use this on the Missouri River and it works out fine.
For special use on the Kansas River and sometime the Missouri, we have 4 enclosed cabin style rescue airboats. These get as much mileage at public events as they do running on the water.

Subject: Reccomendations for boat
I am looking for anyone to provide information on the boats that they use on their local lakes. My department, Douglas County Sheriff, Omaha Nebraska is in the process of looking for a boat to use on local lakes within our AOR. We have approximately 10 mid sized lakes that we currently patrol during the summer months, they are neighborhood lakes or city park lakes with fishing and boating. We utilize a 16 foot Rescue one flat bottom boat on the lakes right now, and realized that its not a patrol boat, but does what we need it to do right now. We have a 15 person nautical services unit within the department and have been looking at purchasing a boat for both lake and river use, the boat we are looking for will be no more than 20 to 22 foot long. We are looking at either an outboard or waterjet setup. We have jurisdiction on the Missouri River within the AOR and use a 24 foot Boston Whaler as the main river boat. We are trying to see if there is any specific boat anyone would stay away from or a boat that you would highly recommend. If you have pictures or anything specific you would recommend, please feel free to attach them.
