With grant funding, from the Sport Fish Restoration & Boating Trust Fund, administered by the U.S. Coast Guard, the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) produced A Guide for Multiple Use Waterway Management (Third Edition). The goal of the project was to reduce recreational boating fatalities and injuries through improved understanding of, and accessibility to tools needed to implement sound management processes on shared recreational waters.

The survey results informed the Waterway Management Steering Committee to ensure the guide provides current and clear direction for effective waterway management, policy development, and communication for public understanding, acceptance, and support. The survey was conducted June 23, 2020 through August 12, 2020.
