Bio

My boating experience began in the mid 1950s when our family bought a used 35 foot yawl. Smaller sailboats that I sailed included a double-planked Lightning, an Ensign, and a 21 foot sailboat, the manufacturer of which I have forgotten. Years later I went to motorboats. I operated an Albin 27 for 13 years and then traded that one in for a new Albin 28TE which I sold about five years ago.
My interest in boating safety education includes a fourteen year association with the U.S. Power Squadrons as an instructor and as a Squadron Ed Officer. Later, I became a certified instructor with the NYS Parks and Rec program for boating safety classes. I have also written articles concerning boating safety, and while no longer a boat owner, I remain dedicated to boating safety and boating law.
