NOVEMBER 17, 2020: Operation Dry Water Officer of the Year recognized for his efforts
*This is a transcript of the "2020 Operation Dry Water Officer of the Year Recognized" video from the in-person recognition ceremony on Tuesday, October 27th, 2020.

CODY JONES:
I want to thank everybody for joining us today! We had a unique opportunity today to present, in-person, the 2020 Operation Dry Water Officer of the Year award.

This year was very unique year for us. Our annual conference had to be a virtual conference, and unfortunately, we couldn't present awards to everybody like we normally like to do. So we had the unique opportunity today, to be here and have Jared come down and be presented with his Operation Dry Water Officer of the Year award.

You know, Operation Dry Water is a year-round boating under the influence (BUI) campaign to focus on the deadly aspects of boating while intoxicated. Operation Dry Water does a tremendous amount of work with agencies and officers alike. Jarred represents exactly what we're after, which is focusing on alcohol awareness and safety on the water.

This year during the Operation Dry Water campaign, Jarred was faced with the arrest of five different occupants or operators on the water. A tremendous level of gratitude to you for getting those folks off the water and keeping people safe.

Jarred has been with the Department for over eight years, and his focus on alcohol and safety on the water is paramount. I've been told that your ability to investigate, write reports, and get convictions on folks who are operating while intoxicated really sets the bar high for people here in Indiana.

So, I just want to thank you for your time, your effort and your focus on what is paramount to us - and that's keeping people safe on the water and focusing on alcohol intoxication. So, Jarred, do you want to say anything?

JARRED COFFING:
Thank you, I really appreciate it.

CODY JONES:
Well, we greatly appreciate the colonel, Colonel Hunter, who is here today with us to help recognize Jarred, and Boating Law Administrator, Kenton Turner, is here with us as well. So we just want to thank everybody for being focused about this, and having this great opportunity to present you with this award. Well deserved.

JARRED COFFING:
Thank you.

CODY JONES:
Thank you, sir.
