Indianapolis, Indiana (Sept. 11, 2018) – During its 59th annual meeting, held in Indianapolis, Indiana, Sept. 9 -12, 2018, the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) presented its prestigious national Boating Educator of the Year award to Liz Lodman with the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
Generously sponsored by Fresh Air Educators and Kalkomey, the Boating Educator of the Year Award was launched by NASBLA in 2011 to recognize those who go above and beyond to engage students and boaters, raise awareness, and make boating education initiatives relevant, thorough and exciting.
Liz Lodman has been an invaluable asset to Montana’s recreational boating safety program since she was hired as Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks’s first recreational boating, snowmobile and off-highway vehicles (OHV) education coordinator in December 1989. Her dedication to recreational boating education, as well as her passion, enthusiasm, expertise and professionalism, has had a positive and far-reaching impact on the citizens of Montana and has inspired generations of Game Wardens.
Liz has continuously been innovative and resourceful in finding ways to bring boating safety awareness and education to the citizens of Montana. Liz developed Montana’s first boat education program for certification as required by the Montana Legislature and has been solely responsible for delivering, improving and maintaining this program since its inception. Liz also started the statewide Life Jacket Loaner program. She has installed, monitored and maintained multiple sites across the state providing access to adult through infant size life jackets on the water. Liz exemplifies the image of a true recreational boating professional and public servant.
The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators congratulates Liz Lodman on receiving the National Boating Educator of the Year award in recognition of her exceptional career and impact on recreational boating safety.
