2018 Instructor of the Year Award

The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) recognizes the 2018 BOAT Program Instructor of the Year for his exceptional performance of duties and responsibilities within the NASBLA Boat Operations and Training (BOAT) Program. The 2018 Instructor of the Year Award was presented to Mike Pryor at the 2018 BOAT Program Instructor Conference in Lexington, Kentucky.

Having been an instructor in the BOAT Program since 2009, Mike Pryor has made a significant impact on our Nation’s maritime capabilities and readiness through the delivery of over 30 BOAT Courses including BCM, BOSAR, EVOC, TOC and PAS courses.

“His dedication to the BOAT Program is exemplified through his hard work and ability to foster the spirit and mission of true interoperability across all local, state, federal, and tribal jurisdictional lines,” said John Fetterman, NASBLA Deputy Executive Director.

Since taking on the role of Lead Instructor, Pryor continues to demonstrate boundless potential.  He developed new course check sheets for BOAT Program course deliveries, improving accountability and reducing the possibility of errors or omissions. Pryor has served as an inspirational leader and educator for NASBLA’s BOAT Program instructor cadre. He is a consistent top performer within his peer group, continually demonstrating a superior level of knowledge and experience in BOAT Program areas. Pryor’s dedication, commitment and devotion to duty is in the highest standing, and is the epitome of a NABLA BOAT Instructor. He has directly contributed to the strategic goals of the BOAT Program, and to the safety and security of America’s waterways.
