The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) is pleased to welcome MariAnn McKenzie, the new interim Boating Law Administrator (BLA) for the state of Oregon.

MariAnn McKenzie has been with the Oregon State Marine Board since March 2006 in the Boating Safety Section. She is the coordinator for several programs including Boating Safety Education, kids/school education, “Let’s Go Boating” Grant Program, Incident and Fatality Data, and the Boating Safety Advocates Program.

MariAnn was also the Team Leader for the Non-Motorized Boat Oregon Advisory Team (BOATs) and was the Project Manager for the Non-Motorized Boating Project linked to the Marine Board’s Strategic Plan. In addition to these roles within her own agency, MariAnn serves as the Vice Chair on NASBLA's Education and Outreach Committee.

Congrats to MariAnn. She's juggling a lot here at the Marine Board but I know she'll be a great BLA during the interim and probably beyond. We have a lot of leadership changes going on at the Marine Board now - more than 100 years of experience retiring over a three month period. Be kind to her please! And thank you for welcoming her so warmly. - Randy Henry
