Jim Patrillo Awarded Certified Recreational Boating Professional (CRBP) Certification
The CRBP certification, developed by NASBLA, is a voluntary credential for recreational boating professionals that encompasses their knowledge, performance, and career achievements in specific program domains.
While working for Verizon Telecommunications in 2007, Patrillo graduated from Averett University in Danville, Virginia, with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. In 2011, he began his career with the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources as a Conservation Police Officer. During this time, Patrillo successfully completed various NASBLA BOAT Program courses, including the Tactical Operators Course, Boating Incident Investigation and Analysis Course Level 1, and Boating Under the Influence Course. He was also a member of the Virginia Conservation Police Boat Cadre, where he served as a boat operations instructor for new conservation police officer recruits and instructed Virginia's mandatory boating safety education classes for the public.
In 2017, Patrillo accepted a position with the Virginia Conservation Police K9 program. Patrillo and his K9 partner, Bailey, were trained in man tracking, evidence recovery, and human remains detection. Patrillo and Bailey were one of only two Conservation Police K9 teams in the state trained in water-based human remains detection. Their skills proved invaluable as they successfully recovered multiple drowning victims, significantly reducing recovery time and providing closure to grieving families.
In January 2023, Patrillo was promoted to the position of "Waterways Manager" within the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources Boating Division. In this new role, Patrillo is responsible for managing Virginia's regulatory waterway markers and handling a range of waterway user conflicts. Patrillo graduated from NASBLA’s RBS Leadership Academy in July 2023.
Please join NASBLA in congratulating Jim Patrillo for achieving the title of Certified Recreational Boating Professional!
