North Carolina Names New Boating Law Administrator

The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) would like to welcome Major Chad Arnold, the new Boating Law Administrator (BLA) for the state of North Carolina.

Chad Arnold is the Major of Administration and Boating Law Administrator for the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC). He began his career with NCWRC in March 2003, attending the NCWRC Basic Recruit Academy. Arnold initially served as a Wildlife Officer in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, where he worked for 10 years, covering areas including Lake Norman, Mountain Island Lake, and Lake Wylie. He then promoted to Sergeant in the Special Investigations Unit, where he served for five years. In 2014, Arnold was promoted to Lieutenant of the Special Operations Unit, overseeing complex wildlife operations and investigations for six years. He was promoted to Captain of Special Operations in January 2024, managing statewide investigations, the Aircraft Program, Drone Program, Swiftwater Rescue, and other specialized operations. In November 2024, Arnold was appointed Major of Administration and became the agency's Boating Law Administrator.

Major Arnold holds a degree in Criminal Justice from Liberty University, where he also competed in track and field. He is a father of three daughters and enjoys spending his off-duty time with them on the water.
