Pennsylvania Names New Boating Law Administrator

The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) is pleased to welcome Mark Sweppenhiser as Pennsylvania’s new Boating Law Administrator (BLA).

Mark has served in the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission’s Bureau of Law Enforcement for 25 years, including his time as a Waterways Conservation Officer, and most recently, as the Strategic Initiatives and Projects Coordinator for the Policy, Planning and Communications Office.

He has extensive knowledge of Pennsylvania’s Recreational Boating Safety program, including law enforcement, boat registration and titling, boating safety education, boat incident investigation and reporting, public boating access, waterway markers, and aids to navigation.

In his new role, Mark will serve as Pennsylvania’s BLA, Secretary to the Boating Advisory Board, and the primary liaison to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Mark holds a master’s degree in public administration with an emphasis in criminal justice, along with a certificate in public budgeting and finance.

A U.S. Air Force veteran and former educator, Mark also coaches football for his township’s Midget Football Association and operates a farm in his spare time.
