North Carolina Names New Boating Law Administrator
The
National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) is excited to welcome Major Branden Jones as North Carolina's new Boating Law Administrator (BLA).
Branden Jones serves as major of support services and boating law administrator for the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC). He began his career with the agency in April 2010 after completing the NCWRC Basic Academy.
Jones first served as a wildlife enforcement officer in northeastern North Carolina, covering the Outer Banks for two years. During his tenure as a wildlife officer, he worked in a variety of assignments, including Lake Norman, Mountain Island Lake, Lake Wylie, High Rock Lake, Tuckertown Lake, Badin Lake, Lake Tillery, and the Pee Dee River.
In 2017, Jones was promoted to sergeant, where he oversaw operations in Montgomery, Stanly, and Anson counties for three years. In 2020, he was promoted to captain of support services, overseeing the NC Wildlife Law Enforcement Basic Academy, in-service training, field training, recruiting and hiring, professional standards, personnel records, public information, emergency operations, telecommunications, internal affairs, and warehouse operations.
In January 2026, Jones was appointed major of support services and assumed the role of the agency’s boating law administrator.
