Basic Boating Incident Investigations
The International Association of Marine Investigators (IAMI), in partnership with the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA), will host a specialized two-day training program, Basic Boating Incident Investigations and Basic Marine Arson Investigations, April 22–23, 2026, at the Louisiana Fire and Emergency Training Center.

The training will cover:

Basic Boating Incident Investigations
  • Introduction to the principles and procedures of boating incident investigations
  • Techniques for evidence collection and data analysis specific to marine environments

Basic Marine Arson Investigations
  • Fundamentals of identifying the causes of marine fires
  • Core investigative techniques for determining arson in marine settings

Case Studies and Practical Exercises
  • Review of real-world case studies highlighting investigative best practices
  • Hands-on exercises simulating boating incident and marine arson investigation scenarios
This training is intended for marine law enforcement officers, marine safety professionals, fire investigators, insurance adjusters, and others involved in boating safety and investigative work.
