Ramón McIntosh is a native of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, where he developed an early appreciation for his community and the natural resources that make the islands unique.
McIntosh earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Inter American University of Puerto Rico in San Germán, Puerto Rico. After spending eight years living and studying in Puerto Rico, he returned to St. Croix in 2008 to begin a career focused on service, leadership and giving back to his community.
In 2009, McIntosh began his professional career at the Animal Veterinary Clinic before joining the Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Natural Resources’ Division of Environmental Enforcement as a conservation officer later that year. During his tenure with DPNR, he discovered a passion for protecting the Virgin Islands’ natural resources while serving and educating the public. He has since taken on increasing levels of responsibility and leadership within the department.
His background in education continues to shape his approach to leadership. McIntosh believes effective leadership extends beyond providing direction and includes educating and mentoring others, building strong teams, leading by example and creating opportunities for others to succeed.
McIntosh is deeply committed to the mission of environmental enforcement and to protecting the Virgin Islands’ waters, beaches, wildlife and natural resources for future generations. He takes particular pride in serving his home island of St. Croix and working alongside fellow officers and community partners to promote safety, conservation and responsible stewardship.
For McIntosh, public service is more than a career; it is an opportunity to give back to the community that shaped him and to make a lasting difference for the people and natural resources of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
