Is there any specific regulation, registration requirement, or any defining language in any state regarding floating homes? Slf propelled or non-self-propelled.
Many seem to be being built, and a growing trend. Most insurance companies won't write them. Some have HIN #’s, some do not. Some mount an outboard on a bracket, but no CG certification.
To what standards are these homes or vessels required to be certified and built to?

Good morning!  VIRT has worked on this specific issue.  You can find the documents here: Vessel Identification, Registration & Titling

    Vessel Identification, Registration & Titling
Recognizing that accurate vessel information is the backbone of recreational boating safety data, the Vessel Identification, Reporting & Titling Committee will work to advance boating safety by analyzing and advocating for thorough and precise vessel identification throughout a vessel's chain of ownership from the hull numbering to registration to titling.

     - there are 3 different documents related to it- a checklist, home letter, and vessel letter.  Hope that helps!  I would also reach out to @Will Hillyer with the USCG as he was the driving force behind this and knows the history with the supreme court case.
