Accessible Boating Facilities – Seattle Parks and Recreation Lake Washington Access for People With Disabilities - Moshe Hecht + Stephen Levengood

All people, regardless of physical ability, deserve access to public facilities. Boating facilities such as boat slips, launches, and boarding and mooring floats are no exception. The ADA requires that newly constructed and altered state and local government facilities, places of public accommodation, and commercial facilities be readily accessible to, and usable by, individuals with disabilities. 
 
We will go over general guidelines for accessible routes, gangways, boarding floats, and more. Two very different Seattle Parks and Recreation projects will be highlighted, the historic Stan Sayres Boat Launch redevelopment project, and South Leschi Transient Moorage designed for 53 side ties.
