Basic Boating Knowledge - Human-Propelled*ScopeThis is the minimum standard that applies to all human-propelled boating courses in the U.S. statesand territories and District of Columbia.PurposeTo establish the national standard for use by course providers to meet the needs of recreationalboaters for human-propelled boating knowledge in order to identify and reduce primary risk factorsand mitigate their effects on recreational boating.* This standard applies to all human-propelled craft, such as canoes, kayaks, rafts, stand-uppaddleboards (SUPs), dragon boats, etc., hereafter referred to as ‘boats.’
