​Peter Francis is the Boating Law Administrator for the state of Connecticut in the role of Boating Division Director at the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) . 

Prior to joining the Boating Division, Peter worked in a variety of roles in DEEP’s coastal zone management program. Some of these roles included supervising the coastal permitting and enforcement section where he was involved in boating access construction projects, transportation projects, and more. Peter also supervised the Technical Services and Coastal Resources sections where he managed DEEP’s coastal programs including GIS, dredging, habitat restoration, and coastal resilience initiatives as well as the Clean Vessel Act and Clean Marina Programs. 

Before joining DEEP, Peter worked as a NOAA Observer on domestic fishing vessels in the Bering Sea and also completed scientific research internships with DEEP's Fisheries Division, NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service, and Mystic Marinelife Aquarium. He holds a B.A. degree in Environmental Studies from Connecticut College with additional fisheries training at the University of Alaska.
