Hello all, I’m Brian. I was born in Carson City, NV and raised in Reno, NV which is still where I make my home. I graduated HS in ’91, attended college here in Reno, but then left for a bit to work in the hotel management industry. That profession led me to Sacramento, CA for a few years. In late ’99 I decided to up and enlist in the United States Coast Guard to go have some adventure, and it worked!
I had never been on a boat on the ocean before, but I went to USCG A school and trained as a Quartermaster (ship’s navigator). I was assigned to a 110’ Island Class Cutter, the USCGC Monhegan (WPB-1305), out of Key West, FL where we engaged in all facets of the Coast Guard’s mission on the waters of the Caribbean. It was a busy time. I was trained as a Law Enforcement Boarding Team Member, boat crewman, and unit EMT, along with my principal duties. When the CG decided to abolish my QM rate, I decided to drive boats for a living and cross-rated to Boatswain’s Mate. I was then sent to a USCG Small Boat Station, STA New London, in Connecticut. There I became a Coxswain on the 47’ MLB, 41’ UTB, 25’ RBS, and 21’ RHIB, as well as a USCG Boarding Officer.
I returned to Reno, NV with my young family in late ’05 to become a Criminal Investigator for the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles, in which position I remained for thirteen years. I was recently fortunate to be able to obtain a position as Game Warden Captain and Nevada’s Boating Law Administrator for the Nevada Department of Wildlife, which allows me to combine all my professional experience into one exciting new arena.
Personally, my family is growing up: I have two teenagers in the house which is a constant source of Dad-related effort, two big doofy boxer dogs, two uninterested cats, and I’m married to the love of my life, the girl from high school that I always had a crush on, but thought was out of my league. Turns out I was wrong, thankfully! We are a geeky family who enjoy all things music, movie, TV, game, and pop culture related.
