Tom Hayward joined NASBLA in 2008 as marketing & development director. He is responsible for all publications, associate and partner relations, development efforts, awards programs, the NASBLA 50th Anniversary celebration, and outreach efforts including marketing components of Operation Dry Water and other NASBLA initiatives. He also assists with the executive board and serves as staff liaison to the Marketing & Outreach Subcommittee.
Tom is a lifelong boater, having grown up in southern Michigan on the Lake Erie shoreline. He has extensive marketing experience in the retail and banking industries, and gained development experience running a professional theater and serving on several nonprofit boards. After three years with the Benedictine monks in Indiana, Tom finished his undergraduate work in Cincinnati with degrees in Communications and Music (Vocal) Performance. He has since lived in Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and San Francisco, CA, and currently lives in Lexington, KY.
